Feeling a bit better!
As I was looking for an article for my first assignment, I came across a great article about guided reading! What I love about this article is that its uses language I can understand and of course it is about a topic I am very familiar with. It discusses guided reading and the views and opinions of primary teachers. Looking at this report makes me actually feel better about writing my dissertation because it gives me the "thumbs up" to use everyday words and still sound professional.
Great job "All About Kids" on your first Blog!!! You are doing great and we are listening!! You are using this exactly as it should be used so keep blogging!! I'm glad you found a useful article that you can relate to!! Don't forget to post your problem statement as the Blog due date nears!!
ReplyDeleteWhat IS guided reading? I see that term used all over the place but it never has the same meaning. What SHOULD the definition be?
ReplyDeleteMeg, guided reading, in a nut shell, is pulling students into smaller groups based on their reading/comprehension level and giving them strategies to read and comprehend new books that are on their reading level. The main purpose is to give them the tools and confidence to tackle any unknown word and unknown books. Over the years, educators have created modified versions of guided reading to suit the needs of their students and sometimes themselves. It really does work if it's done correctly.
